United Way event to help homeless

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Valley of the Sun United Way and partners will hold an event in Tempe on Thursday aimed at connecting homeless individuals with important health and human services.

The event will be held at Grace Community Church at 1200 E. Southern Ave. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Volunteers will work to help homeless or those at risk of homelessness get access to driver's licenses, employment service, wellness checks, shelter, counseling, food, clothing, haircuts, and other services.

United Way said people at risk of losing their homes could get information about affordable rental services.

The monthly event brings together almost 30 human service providers in once central location.
