PHOENIX (AP) -
Officials on the Tonto National Forest said not enough rain has fallen to rescind all fire restrictions.
But the ban on campfires was eased Wednesday to allow visitors to build them in developed campgrounds.
Smoking also is allowed only in developed areas, or inside a vehicle or buildings.
Anyone found in violation of fire restrictions faces a fine of up to $5,000 and six months in jail.
All other national forests in Arizona have lifted bans on campfires.
