NOGALES, AZ (AP) -

A Mexican man is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 17 pounds of cocaine into southern Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say the 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday at the Dennis DeConcini Port.

Agents say they discovered the drugs concealed inside a non-factory compartment of a sedan after a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the vehicle.

They say the drugs are worth an estimated $157,000.

The name of the man hasn't been released.

Agents say he has been turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicle were seized.
