SIERRA VISTA, AZ (CBS5) -
A man was taken to a hospital, and a girl was treated for injuries near Sierra Vista after they were caught in a flash flood.
The 22-year-old man was at a campsite with friends near Carr Canyon when he and a 16-year-old girl went into a nearby stream, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office. The man said a wall of water came down the stream and caught both of them.
He was able to leave the stream and found a home off Carr Canyon Road south of Sierra Vista where the residents called the sheriff's office. Deputies said the man was injured with several cuts. He told deputies he didn't know where the girl was.
A Department of Public Safety ranger spotted the girl from the air about one-eighth of a mile from where she was taken by the stream. Deputies said she had some cuts and a mild case of hypothermia and was released to her mother.
The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening, according to deputies.
The ranger also spotted two friends who were at the campsite. They told deputies they were able to cross the wash with their truck and then began to walk to find help.
