PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division launched a mobile version of its website to try and appeal to users who access the website on the go.

EZ Renewable Mobile is not an app, but a universal website that most phones, tablets and mobile devices can use that allows users to use their devices camera to scan two-dimensional barcodes, a spokesperson said.

According to the department, users on the mobile site can quickly renew their vehicle and aircraft registration because notices will come with a barcode to take them directly to the site.

"We know the needs of our customers are changing and we want to accommodate people who conduct business while on the go," MVD Director Stacey Stanton said.

The department will also use the barcodes, which provide quick access to a website, to provide patrons with easy access to prominent parts of their website, a spokesperson said.

For instance, a customer who is getting ready to take a driver's test will have access to a barcode that takes them to a page with a practice test and all of the driving laws, according to the department.

"We're seeing a steady increase in customers utilizing mobile devices. Our goal is to make it quick and easy to find the information they need or to complete a transaction," Stanton said.
