PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

Crown King Road will be open during the weekend but will close again beginning Monday to continue repairs from Sunday's mudslide.

Some areas of the road are very narrow and drivers are cautioned that the area is susceptible to landslides and heavy rain, authorities said.

The road will be closed again Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The repairs are taking place between Cleator and the Poland Creek Bridge on Crown King Road.

Crews are removing debris and boulders after thunderstorms in the area Saturday caused the mudslide.

The closure of the main road off I-17 stranded residents and tourists in the small tourist town as up to 6 inches of rain fell over the weekend.

The area has become vulnerable to mudslides after a large wildfire in May burned trees and other vegetation that normally prevent rocks from falling onto the road during bad weather.
