PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The monsoon blossomed again on Sunday as a new round of weather warnings and advisories were posted for parts of Arizona.

Phoenix was under a blowing dust advisory until 7 p.m. The alert covered the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, primarily the east and southeast Valley and portions of western Pinal County, mainly north and west of Coolidge.

Residents were warned to be on the lookout for gusty winds, mostly from the south and southwest at 20 to 40 mph, and blowing dust. Meteorologists said to expect scattered visibilities of below three miles.

An airport weather warning was in effect for Sky Harbor airport Sunday evening after weather spotters observed lightning within 10 miles of the terminals and runways.

An urban and small stream flood advisory for central Maricopa County has been posted until 8 p.m.  It includes the cities of Goodyear and Avondale, as well as Estrella Mountain Ranch.

Rainfall in excess of one inch has fallen since 5 p.m. in the area between Phoenix International Raceway and Liberty and may cause local flooding of area roads and low lying areas and also cause area washes to run fast.

Hail up to one-half inch in diameter was expected with that storm, along with heavy rain and gusty winds to near 50 mph, weather forecasters said.

Three-fourths of an inch of rain fell in 30 minutes about six miles west of Stanfield in Pinal County, a National Weather Service spotter reported.

The week ahead should see the monsoon taking a break, with storm chances decreasing through Wednesday.
