PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A 58-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing a Phoenix street Thursday night.
Maria Rivas-Castro was crossing Van Buren Street in a crosswalk at 32nd Avenue about 6:12 p.m. when she was hit by a 1996 Nissan Sentra driven by a 32-year-old man, according to Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department.
The driver was not injured was not believed to have been impaired, according to Thompson.
The investigation continues and charges are pending, Thompson said.
No other information was immediately available.
