A 3-month-old kitten made an incredible journey this week from Shanghai, China to Los Angeles, CA, in a shopping container.
Los Angeles Animal Control received a call from the manager of the freight container company on Wednesday.
Animal control arrived on scene to find the orange-and-white male kitten.
"It is incredible that this kitten could survive the almost 6,500-mile journey by sea without food or water," said Marcia Mayeda, Director of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control.
Staff volunteers have named the kitten Ni Hao, which means hello.
Ni Hao is bright, alert and responsive according to animal control staffers.
