COLORADO CITY, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office has joined three animal rights groups in offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in an Arizona animal cruelty case.

The MCSO is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT, the national chapter of the Humane Society and PETA in offering $10,000 in rewards to determine the person or persons responsible for the torture and death of a kitten found buried in concrete.

A man building a horse shelter in Colorado City discovered the kitten buried up to its neck in late May. Andrew Chatwin freed the kitten from inside a metal pipe, but it died days later at a Utah animal shelter.

PETA announced Thursday that it is soliciting tips in the case and is offering a reward. Spokeswoman Kristin Simon said the tips would be forwarded to marshals in Colorado City, located in a remote area between the Grand Canyon and Utah.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Mohave County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-526-1911.
