PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) is kicking off a special-needs pets fundraiser Thursday, a press release from the Arizona Humane Society said.
A 6-week-old kitten born with deformed back paws, a 2-year-old Shar-pei who has undergone nearly $1,500 worth of surgery and a 1-and-a-half-year-old Chihuahua having to live life on three legs are just a few of the pets that will benefit from the fundraiser.
Project 121 is a six-week fundraising initiative devoted to the 121 animals AHS takes in on average every day. AHS said it is an open intake facility that welcomes all animals regardless of breed, age or medical condition so special-needs pets are no exception.
The Arizona Human Society said that through the campaign, special-needs pets will get care through AHS's lifesaving programs and services and hopefully find forever families.
Thursday night all animals will be on hand from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Petique in Biltmore Fashion Park at 2502 E. Camelback Rd.
Those who want to get involved in other ways can join a Virtual Pet Walk through August 25 or make donations at any Arizona Safeway store through July 31.
