A Maricopa County Superior Court judge sentenced a woman to five years in prison and lifetime probation after she accepted a plea agreement in case stemming from the abuse of her 14-year-old stepdaughter, the court official said.

Andrea Bass, 31, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted child abuse. She had been charged with three counts of child abuse and one count of kidnapping.

Bass and her husband, Scott Bass, 33, were accused of locking their 14-year-old daughter in a bathroom for about two months. During that time, police said they used multiple forms of physical and psychological abuse to discipline the girl.

Police said the girl managed to escape on Jan. 24, 2010, and rode her bike to a local business where she asked for help.
