PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Lightning strikes from a series of storms sparked multiple fires on the Arizona Strip late Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
Fire officials said 13 fires were reported on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
Two of the fires, the Hobble Complex Fire and the Plateau fire, are both burning approximately 10,000 acres, according to fire officials.
Officials said nine of the fires were burning on the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, and one fire is located on the Arizona Strip Field Office. The fires varied in size and firefighters said they are working to accurately map the fires with helicopter GPS missions.
Officials said several ranching related buildings are in danger. No roads have been closed, but some future closures may be necessary.
