Chris Tobin-Cotrell
MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
Mesa police arrested a man at a Mesa motel Sunday night for disorderly conduct and trying to head-butt an officer.
A manager at the Colonade Motel told police a man was causing a disturbance and banging on doors, police said.
When officers tried to talk to the suspect, he refused to identify himself and argued with authorities. The man, later identified as Chris Tobin-Cotrell, 30, was arrested for disorderly conduct, police said.
As officers were escorting him to the police car, Tobin-Cotrell attempted to head-butt an officer, police said, but he was subdued and placed in the car. Police said he was placed in hobble restraints after he tried to kick out the window.
The officers learned that Tobin-Cotrell is a documented East Side Mesa Locos gang member.
Police said the suspect became aggressive again at the jail and started yelling gang slurs and threatened officers.
Tobin-Cotrell was charged with disorderly conduct, refusing to provide a name when detained, aggravated assault on law enforcement, threatening and intimidating and participating in a criminal gang.
