A Guadalupe house was severely damaged by fire Sunday night.
The fire began around 9:40 p.m. at the home in the 9000 block of South Calle Saguaro and the house could be a total loss, said Officer Chris Hegstrom of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Hegstrom said a son of the homeowner told investigators he believed the fire was electrical in origin and started after he turned on a light. The homeowners were not home.
Fire crews from Tempe and Guadalupe battled the blaze at the three-bedroom home.
Hegstrom praised crews for containing the fire before it could reach nearby homes.
There were no injuries, Hegstrom said.
He said arson investigators would be at the home Monday morning to determine the cause of the fire.
