KINGMAN, AZ (AP) -
A $1.6 million facelift for Kingman Airport's two runways has begun and will lead to intermittent runway closures over the next 60 days.
The Kingman Daily Miner reports that the airport's main runway is the primary focus of the rehabilitation work.
Kingman Airport Authority Executive Director Dave French says the plan is to grind off the first two inches of surface on the main runway then put a new surface on it.
The airport's secondary runway is scheduled to have its cracks filled.
The money for the project comes from a Federal Aviation Administration grant.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Aeronautics Division and the Kingman Airport Authority also provided matching funds.
