PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they said pointed a gun at a deputy Saturday morning.
The deputy was patrolling State Route 82 around mile post 55 when he spotted a man standing on the side of the road with what looked like a handgun, the sheriff's office said.
The deputy said the man pointed the gun at him, but by the time he stopped his vehicle, the man had fled into the desert.
The sheriff's office, police and Border Patrol searched the area, but they were unable to find the suspect.
The man was spotted in the same area by sheriff's deputies at about 5 p.m., but he escaped again, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office said they will continue to patrol the area and try to locate the suspect.
