Authorities from the Arizona Department of Public Safety have closed State Route 188 because of a growing brush fire burning along the highway in the Tonto National Forest.
The AZDPS duty office said both directions of SR87, from SR188 to the Bush Highway, are closed due to several brush fires burning in the area. The alternate route suggested is US60.
Tonto National Forest spokesman Paige Rockett said there are several brush fires burning in the area and fire crews are working to put them out.
The AZDPS duty office also said the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 are closed at milepost 248, the Bumble Bee Road exit, for a growing brush fire in that area.
