MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ (CBS5) -
Police found a truck in Avondale that was stolen Thursday after a rush-hour crash and subsequent carjacking, but police are still looking for the suspect.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said 34-year-old Arthur Aldaco could be armed and dangerous.
Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, Hegstrom said Aldaco was involved in a crash on the overpass near the intersection of 91st Avenue and I-10.
"He didn't stop at the light and then he crashed the blue car, and that guy pushed me," said a witness in one of the cars involved.
Aldaco is believed to have run to the highway, where he reportedly carjacked another driver.
"Rush-hour traffic is a little slower, it's not running the 65, 55 or whatever the highway speed is there. You get down there and start waving around and people are going to stop and see what's going on," Hegstrom said.
Deputies believe Aldaco got away in a 2004 gray Nissan Frontier with license plate 947-NEK. The driver of this vehicle did get out unharmed, according the MCSO.
Aldaco is described as 5'11'' tall and 250 pounds, wearing a black T-shirt and no shoes.
Hegstrom said the suspect is wanted for a warrant.
In 2010, he was booked for running from police, driving on a suspended license and theft.
No serious injuries were reported.
Phoenix police, Tolleson police and the Department of Public Safety are also investigating.
