PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A section of the Maricopa-Casa Grand Highway is closed from White and Parker roads to Murphy Road after flooding from a monsoon storm Wednesday, Maricopa City officials said.
The city is advising drivers to find an alternative route until the flooding clears up.
The area was hit hard by a monsoon that led to flooding in several communities around Arizona City.
A community on Battaglia and Santa Ana roads in Arizona City had major flooding Wednesday morning, but most of it was cleared up by the afternoon. Only a few people reported minor damage from the flooding.
The Pima County Sheriff's Office also received several reports of flooding in the Maricopa-Stanfield area and on Montgomery north of Interstate 8.
The sheriff's office said it received six calls about vehicles swept into washes by the flooding.
