Eastbound Interstate 10 near Ray Road has been reopened after a fatal multi-vehicle crash closed all lanes early Thursday morning.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the lanes opened to traffic just after 8:15 a.m., some seven hours after the initial crash.
The driver of a black Toyota pickup truck was speeding, lost control and crashed about 1 a.m., according to Robert Bailey, an officer with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The driver of the pickup was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several other vehicles were involved, including three commercial vehicles, one of which rolled onto its side, Bailey said.
Eastbound I-10 had been closed from Ray Road to Chandler Boulevard.
Two other people were taken to hospitals with injuries but were expected to survive, Bailey said.
