New research questions shingles vaccine practices

New research questions the current recommendation not to give the shingles vaccine to patients with diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis. The common wisdom is that the live vaccine would increase those patients' risk of getting the painful skin condition in the weeks after getting the shot. But the study in the journal of the American medical association says that's not the case and the vaccine will significantly reduce their long-term risk of getting shingles.
