PD: 6-year-old hit by car in Phoenix

The crash happened on Van Buren, near 20th Avenue in Phoenix.

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 6-year-old boy was critically hurt when he was hit by a car Wednesday morning.

Police said the boy ran out into traffic on Van Buren, near 20th Avenue and was struck by a car.

Witnesses said the boy was with another child.

The driver swerved to try and miss them but hit the one child.

Police said the boy's condition has been stabilized and his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
