TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -
Today was the first day on the job for Tempe's new mayor.
Mark Mitchell said Tempe is well poised and that the city's economy is starting to see an uptick right now.
"Tempe is the place to be, it's a smart place to be, we are home to one of the largest universities in the country, we have amazing neighborhoods and great school districts in our state and our city, and we're going to continue to work hard and continue to reinvent ourselves in terms of maintaining and improving what we have," Mitchell said.
Mitchell said Tempe is the largest importer of jobs per resident in the Valley and he expects to keep that trend going.
