PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Firefighters have made significant progress in containing a wildfire about 15 miles northeast of Blue Ridge Reservoir that has cost about $575,000 to battle, fire officials said.
Firefighters said the Canyon fire was more than 75 percent contained Thursday.
The lightning-caused wildfire, which started Friday in the Jacks Canyon area near Highway 87, had burned about 7,620 acres, according to fire officials.
Most of the resources dedicated to fighting the blaze have left, and the remaining firefighters are actively patrolling the perimeters and extinguishing hot spots, officials said.
There were two engines and about 15 firefighters still working on the fire Thursday.
Firefighters said the fire was mostly smoldering and higher humidity has lowered the potential for growth.
The fire led to the closure of State Route 87, which reopened Monday morning.
No structures were threatened, and there have been no evacuations.
