Loved ones mourn loss of 4 killed in chopper crash

CAMP VERDE, AZ (CBS5) -

Family members of four people who died in a helicopter crash over the weekend are mourning the loss of their loved ones.

Investigators were on the scene of the crash near Camp Verde Monday, combing through the rubble looking for clues about why the helicopter went down in the Verde River Saturday.

All four people on board died, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

One of those on board was Josh Stinn's mother, 68-year-old Karen Stinn.

He told a CBS 5 News crew Monday that she worked in Real Estate for 20 years and was known for her contagious smile.

"She really could light up a room. I mean she had this way about her that when she walked in and she looked at you, it was as though you were the only one in the room," Josh Stinn said.

The pilot, 70-year-old Raymond Perry, who was the CEO of Arriba Mexican Grill, also died in the crash.

A close friend of Perry's said the four friends were on their way back to the Valley from a trip to Sedona for breakfast when the helicopter went down.

Mike and Linda Dunaway, who also died, have roots back in Colorado, said Dan Noonan, the fire chief of Durango Fire and Rescue in Durango Colorado.

Noonan said Mike Dunaway was a fire chief for years with Durango Fire.

"Mike was an individual who was always there for you. If you had a question or concern, he would spend an enormous amount of time one-on-one allowing you to understand that he was there," Noonan said.

Josh Stinn said his mom would have said, "You know, spend about two more minutes being sad and then get on with your life and make it productive."

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

The NTSB said the goal is to determine if the crash was caused by weather, human error or a mechanical problem.
