GILA BEND, AZ (CBS5) -
Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested five men, including four illegal immigrants, and seized 236 pounds of marijuana south of Gila Bend.
Drug Suppression Task Force detectives approached the group in the desert and two men fled, deputies said.
While deputies were on scene, a man in a pickup truck pulled up and admitted to deputies he was paid $500 to pick up the illegal immigrants, deputies said.
The suspects told deputies they were each paid $200 to smuggle the pot across the border.
All five men were booked into jail on drug-related charges.
