Ben Arredondo
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A U.S. District judge has postponed the trial of Rep. Ben Arredondo, who is accused of accepting more than $6,000 in sports tickets while serving as a Tempe City Council member.
The trial has been postponed from Tuesday until Sept. 5 because the court found continuing the investigation outweighs a speedy trial, according to court documents.
According to court documents, not continuing the investigation would deny Arredondo the reasonable time to prepare.
Arredondo has pleaded not guilty to charges of accepting sports and event tickets from FBI undercover agents and disclosing confidential information while serving as a Tempe City Council member.
