CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -
In preparation for Fourth of July holiday travels, residents across the Valley are urged to take precautions to ensure vehicle safety.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 2,600 of its recorded fatalities have resulted from traffic accidents rooted in insufficient vehicle maintenance.
"You've planned your vacation and taken the time to go over everything and be prepared. You need to do the same with your vehicle," local car maintenance company Desert Car Care owner Frank Leutz said.
Desert Car Care recommends these points of safety be checked:
- Lights
- Belts
- Fluids (Oil, coolant, power steering, brake, and transmission)
- Hoses (Coolant)
- Tire condition and pressure
- Windshield wipers and cracks
- Fluid levels
- Air filter
- Mirrors
- Emergency brakes
- Battery
- Child seat belts
Desert Car Care will offer free car safety evaluations to Valley residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
Desert Car Care is located at 95 N. Dobson Rd.
