MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
The name of the man who fell three stories from a Mesa parking garage Sunday night has been released, police said.
The victim was Dustin Burton, 30 of Mesa.
On Monday, a man who had been detained in connection with the homicide was arrested, police said.
Roderick Deshan Wagoner, 20, was booked at the Mesa police holding facility on one count of second-degree murder.
A police spokesman said Burton suffered severe lacerations and died late Sunday night.
Detective Steve Berry with the Mesa Police Department said that at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday a witness saw two men, who are believed to be transients, fighting on the highest level of the three-story parking garage near Center and Main streets in Mesa.
Berry said the argument turned physical and then the two men started fighting near the edge of the garage at the top. In what must have been a frightening situation for the victim, Berry said he fell over the edge.
"At some point our victim goes over the outside wall of the garage," Berry said. "As you can picture someone hanging on to the edge of a brick building and again the fight continues at that point to the point where the victim falls to the ground below."
Wagoner will be transferred to the Fourth Avenue Jail.
