PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies were searching for a possible missing hiker in the Superstition Mountains on Monday morning.

Officer Chris Hegstrom said a man was reported missing Sunday and thought to be hiking in the mountains.

Deputies found his car near the First Water Trailhead. The man is in his late 50s and is an avid hiker with no medical history, Hegstrom said. He has long blond hair and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

Deputies said he is an experienced hiker who knows the area well.

No other information was immediately available.
