The Phoenix Suns have used the 13th pick of the NBA draft to select North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall.
A pass-first point guard, Marshall set the ACC assists record last season and could be Suns' point guard of the future whether or not free agent Steve Nash returns.
Phoenix needed perimeter scoring, but went with a point guard after Houston selected Connecticut's Jeremy Lamb with the No. 12 pick.
Nash becomes a free agent on Saturday and has numerous teams interested in signing him.
Marshall broke his wrist in the NCAA tournament, but says he's healthy.
