PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An El Mirage man is getting his dying wish.

The Dream Foundation has granted 57-year-old Michael McCarthy's dream to reunite with fellow patients fighting pulmonary hypertension.

McCarthy has a prognosis of just six months left to live. As the leader of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, he will be getting the opportunity to attend the group's conference in Orlando.

Dream Foundation is providing admission, airfare and hotel accommodations for McCarthy and his wife.

"I need my wife to come with me as I say my goodbyes to all my friends and peers that have walked this disease with me," McCarthy writes in an application letter to Dream Foundation. "She has supported me with all the care and love she can muster. She is my sunshine who comforts me."

The couple has been married 35 years.

McCarthy and his wife leave June 22.

Dream Foundation is a wish-granting organization for adults and their families suffering life-threatening illnesses.
