APS showcased its new operations facility for the first time Wednesday, completed with a system of large-scale monitors that stretch from the floor to the ceiling.
The paper wall maps and push pins that used to keep the lights on for generations of Arizonans are officially retired, according to company spokesman Damon Gross.
APS's new distribution operations management, which includes 840 square feet of monitors, tracks outages in real time, manages electronic loads and manages the construction and repair crews.
The new facility, which opened earlier this year, is located in north Phoenix.
The building was originally constructed in the mid-1970s.
