Better start saving if you are planning on having kids.
A new government report says for a child born now, it will cost an average of $235,000 to raise them until age 17, not including college.
The annual cost of raising a child in a middle class family:$12,290 to $14,320, depending on the age of the child, according to the report.
The cost to raise a child jumped 3.5 percent from last year and is up 23 percent from 1960.
