Sheriff Arpaio celebrates 80th birthday go-karting

PHOENIX (CBS5/CBS) -

"You're only as old as you feel, and I feel great," Joe Arpaio said as Maricopa County's 80-year-old sheriff celebrated his milestone birthday in style at Phoenix's Octane Raceway.

Arpaio said he looked to something more entertaining and fun for everyone involved, instead of a traditional "lunch out with the boss" celebration.

"I like to say that 80 is the new 60," said Arpaio, who assumed office as the county sheriff at age 60 in 1993.
