71-year-old man in world's first elliptical bike tour stops in AZ

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

If completing in 100 marathons, 100 half-marathons and 100 10K's wasn't enough, a 71-year-old former Marine is traveling from North Carolina to California on the world's first elliptical bike.

Rick Hermelin made a pit stop in Tempe Thursday to discuss the motivation behind his 3,000-mile journey and to raise money for the "Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund."

His "EliptiGO" combines the motion of the elliptical trainer with the functionality of a bicycle.

Hermelin started his trek on March 23 and wants to finish in San Diego in exactly 100 days on June 30.
