Billboard geared toward homeowners facing foreclosure
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
If you are one of the many homeowners across the state who are facing foreclosure, there is help out there.
The Arizona Foreclosure Prevention Task Force has a new campaign reminding Valley homeowners of a free foreclosure helpline.
Two electronic billboards with the helpline number are just off of I-17 on Thomas and Indian School roads. Liz Meyers from AZ Task Force said these neighborhoods have a high foreclosure rate.
The AZ Task Force is a volunteer nonprofit organization reaching out to at-risk homeowners.
Meyers said the new push came after a federal study was released, validating the effectiveness of foreclosure counseling.
"Thousands of homeowners are behind on their mortgage payments and either waiting for the foreclosure shoe to drop or running into walls with their mortgage services," Patricia Garcia Duarte, the chair of the AZ Task Force, said. "If we can convince them to call the foreclosure helpline, there are guidance counselors standing by to help make the process smoother and more successful."
The toll-free helpline is 1-877-448-1211.
