CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -
Mark and Donna Grady moved into a new home that better suited their family, but it came with a new problem - an unfenced pool.
On Tuesday, the family of six was the fifth recipient of this year's Fulton Homes Fence Patrol, which provides a free pool fence for families who need one but can't afford it.
The Chandler couple brought Donna Grady's mother into their home when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis to take care of her, along with their three daughters. This forced Mark Grady to get a second job and the family to move into a home that is more accessible for Donna Grady's mother.
In her nomination, Donna Grady said she saw her husband stress and worry about buying a fence for the pool.
"I heard about the contest and I nominated my husband and when they called I couldn't stop crying. I was so excited to tell him there was one less thing to worry about providing for us," Donna Grady said.
Fulton Homes and KMLE Country 108 are giving away 10 more fences this summer.
"Keeping families safe is so very important to me," said Doug Fulton, CEO of Fulton Homes. "This is such a loving family, making sacrifices to care not only for their children but for Donna's mother. It makes all of us feel good to be able to help such a wonderful family."
