PHOENIX (CBS5) -

If you enjoy witnessing solar phenomena like last month's solar eclipse, you definitely do not want to miss the Venus Transit.

Challenger Space Center Arizona, located at 21170 N. 83rd Ave., is inviting everyone to come watch this rare event that won't happen again until 2117.

According to Space Center Executive Director Kari Silva, during a Venus Transit the planet Venus will pass directly between the Earth and the Sun, appearing only as a small dot flying slowly across the face of the Sun.

If you go, you'll be able to see it through special solar-filtered telescopes and be able to photograph it with your own digital camera.

The doors open at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, and the Venus Transit will start at approximately 3:08 p.m.

It's free with general admission.

  • $8 for adults
  • $7 for seniors (55+)
  • $7 for military personnel
  • $5 for students (4-18)
  • Free for children 3 and younger and Challenger Members
