BUCKEYE, AZ (CBS5) -

Four people were killed when one car rear-ended another vehicle that exploded into flames, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident happened Saturday at about 3 p.m. just east of Airport Road on Highway 85. Both vehicles were eastbound, sheriff's deputies said.

The driver and three passengers inside the car that caught fire were trapped and died.

The family uncle, Roger Keasling, 33-year-old Jerry Swift along with his wife, 33-year-old Seline Swift, all died in the accident.

"They were high school sweethearts and got married right out of high school and had two beautiful children," said Jessie Owens, family relative.

One of Jerry and Seline Swift's children was in the car, 13-year-old Jerry Jr. Swift, and also did not survive.

"He would walk into the room and he would smile and make everybody happy," Owens said.

The crash left Jerry and Seline Swift's only other teenaged child with no immediate family.

Owens said, "We've all come in close, she's got some aunts and you know some of Jerry's siblings and her grandparents, and we've just all surrounded her with love and support and are letting her know that we will get through this."

An account has been set up for the family. For donations at Chase banks, reference the name "Hope L. Hamel."

A bake sale is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, and Friday June 8, at the Shamrock gas station on Highway 85 in Buckeye east of Miller Road starting at 8 a.m.

A car wash is also scheduled Saturday, June 9, at Grace Fellowship Church on Miller Road in Buckeye and a memorial will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Buckeye.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated and released from the hospital.

The cause of accident is still under investigation.
