The race is open to be constable for justice of the peace in District 7.
Jack McClaren resigned in May to seek another elected office.
May 30 was the deadline for filing nomination papers for the elected position. Now anyone interested in running in the statewide primary election on August 28 must do so as a write-in candidate.
Candidates can be from any political party since McClaren left before the first two years of his term were complete.
Constables are elected officers of the county and must be 18 and live in the precinct or district in which they are elected. Pinal County constables serve four-year terms. The primary responsibility of a constable is the service of process for the justice of the peace courts. They serve summons, injunctions, writs and orders.
