Tap water report available for city of Phoenix

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

According to a report released by the city of Phoenix, tap water delivered to customers meets or surpasses all federal and state drinking water standards.

The city's annual water quality report outlines information on water sources, water treatment processes, taste, odor and hardness.

Phoenix's Water Services Department conducts more than five million tests and measurements in the city's treatment and distribution systems each year. The city also submits hundreds of reports each year to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department.

"Water quality is about Phoenix families and children who turn on their water faucets every day and know they are drinking safe, clean water," Mayor Greg Stanton said. "This is a standard for our city to meet and surpass, and something our Water Services Department works 24/7 to achieve. We as residents can easily take water quality for granted, but it's something we can and should be proud of."

The public can read the water quality reports online. Phoenix residents will also find the report with their May City Services Bill.
