PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police have confirmed another flashlight bomb was the cause of an explosion at the Salvation Army Distribution Center in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Police Department said a device went off inside the facility located at 1625 South Central Ave. on Thursday afternoon.
"One of the workers pushed the button on the device and the device exploded," said Sgt. Trent Crump with the Phoenix police department.
There were more than 100 people inside. Police said two employees had very minor injuries.
The bomb squad responded and police said the nearby area was also evacuated as a precaution.
Police said witnesses told them the device was similar to devices found in Glendale recently.
Early this month, two separate explosive devices were found in open areas around Glendale. The devices were hidden inside standard six-volt yellow flashlights, Glendale police said.
"We really feel like we have gotten very lucky on these devices and somebody not being seriously hurt," said Crump.
Police released several photos showing various items found in the same box as the flashlight.
The items included some costume jewelry and several books:
- Killing Kelly by Heather Graham - actress plays a therapist on a soap, becomes the target of a serial killer.
- The Killing Edge by Heather Graham - teen witnesses mass murder, grows up to be a psychologist working on another mass murder.
- Snowfall by Sharon Sala - a twisted killer on the loose, leaving messages on the dead bodies.
- Nine Lives by Sharon Sala - hero is scarred at age 13 by a slasher who killed her father.
- Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas - millionaire playboy is confronted with a baby that's his and falls for the baby's aunt.
- Dockside by Susan Wiggs - empty-nest mom falls in love with a single dad.
Officers hope someone will recognize who the items belong to and notify police so they can follow up.
