Production facility breaks ground in Gilbert

GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -

Algae will soon be taking over a 20-acre piece of land in Gilbert.

Today, the company Heliae broke ground on its new commercial production facility.

The facility will be located near Germann Road and Gilbert Roads.

The algae will be grown for a number of uses including pharmacology, cosmetics, fertilizer, fuel and food.
