A pastor in Dickson believes damage his century-old church sustained from an overnight fire was caused by arson.
The fire started in the kitchen area of the New Hope Baptist Church, badly damaging a dining hall area.
There was evidence of a break-in, according to Pastor Matthew Lester. He said someone threw objects through the church windows, attempted to go through some files and rummaged through an area where valuables are stored.
The church was in the middle of a renovation before the fire. The ATF is helping in the investigation.
Lester said his church has not incurred any threats in the past.
