PHOENIX (CBS5) -

As we get ready to celebrate Mother's Day, one Valley Chihuahua mix is being called a super mom.

Betty Boop gave birth to two puppies shortly after arriving at Arizona Animal Welfare League.

She also came to the aide of orphaned puppies of different breeds in the shelter

In all she saved eight puppies by nursing and taking care of them as if they were her own.

Within weeks some of the puppies were bigger than she was, but that didn't stop her from being their mom.

Foster mom turned forever mom Karen Anderson told CBS 5 News that Betty is a natural mother.

"It was amazing and I got to witness it every step of the way. She was awesome. She took care of them like her own. She cleaned each one of them," Anderson said. "She was amazing to watch and tirelessly took care of them."

Betty is also helping to take care of some foster kittens at home. Anderson said that when Betty hears the kittens crying and meowing that she is right there to see what is happening.

Today was a big day for Betty who was officially adopted by Anderson.
