CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -
Saturday is not only Cinco de Mayo, but it's also the 100th birthday of the city of Chandler.
To celebrate both occasions, Valley animal rescue Kit Kat is putting 100 cats and dogs up for adoption.
Kit Kat Rescue was founded in 2008 as a nonprofit, no-kill rescue to save displaced cats and kittens.
In 2010, Kit Kat Rescue expanded to include dogs because of the need created by the worsening economy.
The adoption event is going on all weekend at the Chandler PetSmart, along with Chihuahua races in the courtyard of the Chandler downtown library.
The event is free to attend, but adoption fees will vary.
