DALLAS (CBS5) -

The Texas twisters seemed to strike with surgical precision Tuesday.

CBS 5 News crews in Texas spoke with a family whose home was demolished yet nearby houses were untouched.

Bobby Lawrence recalls the emotional moments.

Lawrence said, "She told me the storm sirens started going off."

Lawrence felt helpless when his wife called him at work panicked.

"They went and got in the bathtub, her and both my sons were here, they called me back once they were in the bathroom. I told them to make sure something was over them and before I could finish talking I heard an explosion and the phone went dead," said Lawrence.

There is not much left in their house except for one room. Just a few feet away is where both of his sons' rooms were.

"They're gone. It's just gone," Lawrence said.

Metal beams are exposed in the ceiling and the sky is visible through a chandelier, yet several photos hang, undisturbed, on the refrigerator.

A CBS 5 News crew found Lawrence's roof more than a block away in a neighbor's backyard.

Lawrence said, "Thank the Lord he put his hand around my family and protected them."
