Landfill search still underway; no signs of missing girl

GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Today marked six weeks since crews started searching a landfill south of the Valley for any sign of a missing 5-year-old.

A new group of officers took over looking for the body of Jhessye Shockley.

And although it's a new crew, police told CBS 5 News they have the procedure down to a science.

"Once the HAZMAT guys are done, cadaver dogs will run through before searchers go through with their rakes and their hoes," explained Sgt. Brent Coombs with Glendale police.

They didn't make any significant finds today.

Police said they've sifted through a little less than half of the area they need to search.

Jhessye hasn't been seen since last October.

Police believe she was murdered and her body discarded in a Tempe dumpster.
